The Berkshire Golf Club

Founded in 1928, The Berkshire Golf Club is home to two Herbert Fowler designed courses, both of which are widely regarded as amongst the best in the British Isles. The Berkshire is a traditional Members’ Club which warmly welcomes visiting golfers all year round to enjoy the beauty of its pine and heather lined courses, and to face the subtle challenges of Fowler’s superb traditional design.

The Club is host to The Berkshire Trophy, one of the UK’s major amateur competitions. Past winners include Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle and Ross Fisher. The Berkshire has also hosted the English Amateur Championship and the British Senior Amateur Championship, and in 2009 it was the venue for final qualifying for the Senior British Open Championship.

Henley-on-Thames

Henley on Thames is one of the most beautiful towns in England. Henley Royal Regatta

Henley Royal Regatta is undoubtedly the best known regatta in the world. It attracts thousands of visitors over a 5-day period and spectators will be thrilled by over 200 races of an international standard, including Olympians and crews new to the event.

The regatta lasts for 5 days (Wednesday to Sunday) over the first weekend in July. Races are head-to-head knock out competitions, raced over a course of 1 mile, 550 yards (2,112 m). The most prestigious event at the regatta is the Grand Challenge Cup for Men’s Eights, which has been awarded since the regatta was first staged.

The regatta is regarded as part of the English social season. As with other events in the season, certain enclosures at the regatta have strict dress codes.

The Mill at Sonning

Wentworth Golf Club

Wentworth Club is a privately owned golf club and health resort in Virginia Water, Surrey. The club was founded in 1926. Beijing-based Reignwood Group bought the club in September 2014 and implemented a new debenture membership structure.

Wentworth Club is best known for its associations with professional golf. It has three eighteen-hole courses: the famous Harry Colt-designed West Course from 1926, the earlier yet lesser played East Course which was also designed by Colt in 1924, the recent Edinburgh Course designed by John Jacobs, and a nine-hole par-3 executive course.

The headquarters of the PGA European Tour are located at the club, and each year it hosts the Tour's BMW PGA Championship. It was the venue of the 1953 Ryder Cup and of the HSBC World Match Play Championship from 1964 until 2007.
